Introduction: Anxiety in pregnancy is a common psychological problem that can impact maternal health and fetal development. Managing anxiety during pregnancy is important to improve the mother's quality of life and support a healthy pregnancy. One non-pharmacological intervention that can help reduce anxiety is yoga, which has been shown to promote physical and mental relaxation.
Objectives This study aims to determine the effectiveness of yoga in reducing anxiety levels in pregnant women.
Method: This EBN used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach without a control group. The sample consisted of four purposively selected pregnant women. Anxiety levels were measured using a valid anxiety scale instrument before and after the yoga exercise intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon statistical test to determine significant differences between pre- and post-intervention conditions.
Result: Before the intervention, the majority of respondents, 3 (75%), were in the anxious category. After the yoga intervention, all 4 (100%) respondents were in the non-anxious category. A mean score of 1.78 and a p-value of 0.004 (<0.05) indicated a significant difference between anxiety levels before and after the intervention.
Conclution: Yoga is effective in reducing anxiety levels in pregnant women, so it can be a safe and beneficial non-pharmacological strategy to support mental health during pregnancy..
